Transformers on IMAX 9/21/07

“Transformers”: The IMAX Experience… DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures’ “Transformers” has been digitally re-mastered into IMAX’s immersive format for Release in IMAX theaters on September 21, 2007.

Last night I saw the IMAX screening of Transformers and the sound and picture were definitely worth all the hype!  If you grew up with these toys, like action films, or just are interested in a loud and suspenseful combat film… you should definitely check this film out in IMAX.

For more information, and a local listing of IMAX theatres near you, visit www.imax.com.

Here are some cool “IMAX Fun Facts”…

·        Because IMAX screens can be as high as eight stories and 120 feet wide, the Chevy Camaro that turns into Bumblebee™ will actually be life-size.

·        You could stand Bumblebee™ on Optimus Prime’s® shoulders and they would still not be as high as the largest IMAX screen.

·        The average IMAX screen is 4,500 times bigger than an average TV screen and is as wide as an NFL football field.

·        The light from the powerful lamp in an IMAX projector is so bright that if it were on the moon, we could see it from Earth – and possibly even from Cybertron.

·        IMAX film uses the largest film frame in the motion picture industry, 10x the picture area of a conventional 35 mm film frameThe length of the IMAX DMR® version of “TRANSFORMERS” is more than 50,000 ft long.

·        In IMAX theatres, audiences will feel the impact of the footsteps of the Autobots’® and the Decepticons® thanks to the powerful IMAX sound system – a multi-channel, state-of-the-art, digital surround sound system that uses 44 custom-designed speakers.

Concerts Online 9/13/07

Right now MSN is featuring concerts online from some of the best pop artists.  Go to msn.com and watch concerts from Pink, Maroon 5, Mika, and Paolo Nutini!  Check them out and let me know what you think.  After all, if you can’t go to their concert, watching them online is the next best thing!

Has anyone ever seen Pink in concert?  I saw her when she came to town with Justin Timberlake not too long ago, and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went, but she ended up putting on a phenomenal performance.  Has anyone else gone to a show and been pleasantly surprised with performers exceeding your expectations?  Share your comments!

MTV VMAs 9/10/07

So far I’ve been hearing buzz in the hall about Brittany Spear’s performance and the scuffle between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee.

First thing’s first:  Brittany Spears.  Any thoughts?  From doing simple research online, it seems as though the overall consensus is disappointment.  If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s available on mtv.com.  A poll of readers on “Us Weekly’s” website had 80-percent of the 750-plus voters saying that Britney’s performance wasn’t up to par.  And just from reading the responses on MTV’s website, well… maybe you should just read them yourself.  Let us know what you thought of the performance!

Secondly: Kid Rock vs. Tommy Lee.  This video is also available on mtv.com.  Click here to check it out and get the full story about how it began, who punched who and who slapped who in the face.

Let the gossip begin!

Las Vegas 9/7/07

What are the hot nightclubs to check out in Las Vegas?  My girlfriends and I are going in October and I need a heads up!  Has anyone been to Tyrst at the Wynn?  I heard they just opened a new club there – Blush Boutique Nightclub.  Has anyone been yet?  A new club also just opened up at Luxor, LAX – It’s the one that Britney Spears opened this past Saturday.  I’m thinking about going there as well.  What about Ghost Bar, Rain, Studio 54, Pure, Light?  Send me your suggestions!

Note: Blog on my Vegas trip to come later…

Lunch and Boys 9/6/07

Anyone know of good places to grab food on your lunch break where there is a plethora of cute boys?  I had lunch today at Indigo Cafe (off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd… really good food) and no joke, there were about 5-7 attractive men that came in during about a 30 minute time span.  I was amazed.

Share with us the hot spots for lunch!  My coworker really needs to meet a man and we are trying to scope out the good places to take her to lunch!  Help the “Get Jamie A Date Fund” and recommend a restaurant!

Beach Brawl 9/4/07

Anyone in PB on Labor Day?  Say around 5:15/5:30 near Reed/Mission Blvd?  If you were, you witnessed a huge brawl that broke out when people started throwing plastic bottles and cans at police officers who were called to break up a fight.  More than 300 people created a mob scene, sixteen people were arrested on charges of being drunk in public.  Consequently, the city of Pacific Beach is going to “reconsider” it’s alcohol on the beach policy.

How do you feel about drinking on the beach?  Do you think that it should be restricted and/or banned?
